Tally

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 5, 2026

Short version: Your videos, audio, and edits never leave your device — Tally has no accounts and no cloud. The only thing we collect is anonymous, aggregate usage statistics (like how often a feature is used) to help improve the app, and you can turn that off anytime in Settings.

What Tally does on your device

Tally is a video editor for dance practice and performance footage. All of its features — dancer tracking, face blurring, audio sync, and visual effects — run entirely on-device using local machine learning models. Your videos, your audio, and your edits are never uploaded, never shared, and never leave your phone.

What we access, and why

What we store

All projects, edits, and exported videos are stored locally in the app's private storage on your device. Tally has no backend server for your content, no cloud sync, and no user accounts — there is nothing tied to your identity for us to store.

Body-pose and face-landmark data

To keep your chosen dancer centered in frame and to blur bystanders, Tally analyzes video frames on your device to estimate people's body pose. This produces a set of coordinate points for body joints — including approximate positions for the head (nose, eyes, and ears) — that Tally uses purely to locate and follow a person within the frame.

Anonymous usage analytics

To understand how Tally is used and where to improve it, we collect anonymous, aggregate usage statistics through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service built for this purpose. This data:

Analytics is on by default, but entirely optional. You can turn it off at any time under Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage. Turning it off stops all collection immediately.

Third parties and AI services

The only third-party service Tally uses is TelemetryDeck, for the anonymous usage analytics described above. Tally does not integrate any advertising or ad-tracking services, and does not send any of your videos, audio, or pose data to any third-party or cloud-based AI service. All machine learning — dancer tracking, body-pose estimation, and face blurring — runs locally on your device and does not transmit that data anywhere.

Children's privacy

Tally does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children. The only data collected is anonymous, aggregate usage statistics that cannot identify any individual.

Changes to this policy

If Tally's data practices ever change, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will reflect that.
